Privacy Policy

1. Who this is for

Techiya.in is a companion portal for IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) distance-learning students. You must be an enrolled IGNOU student (or a prospective one, for browsing) to create an account. Techiya.in is not affiliated with or operated by IGNOU.

2. Information we collect

Provided directly by you at signup:

• Name, email address, password
• IGNOU enrolment number
• Course/programme, enrolled year, enrolment session, regional center

Provided later, optionally:

• A profile photo, if you choose to upload one

Collected automatically:

• A device push-notification token, if you enable notifications, used to deliver semester reminders and announcements
• Your enrolment number and course are used to fetch your official grade card from IGNOU's own grade card system on your request — Techiya.in does not store your IGNOU login credentials; it looks up the public grade record using your enrolment number, the same way you could manually
• Standard technical data (IP address, device/browser type), used for security and to prevent bot/abusive signups and logins

3. How we use it

• To create and secure your account, and show you content (study material, assignment questions, PYQs) filtered to your specific course and current semester
• To display your official IGNOU grade card inside the app, refreshed on your request
• To send you optional push notifications (exam reminders, announcements) if enabled
• To let you use a profile photo inside the app
• To detect and prevent bot/abusive signups and logins
• If you contact support, to respond to you

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Service providers

Techiya.in relies on a small number of specialized service providers to operate — for account authentication and database hosting, file storage for uploaded photos and study material, bot-detection on login/signup, and push notification delivery. Each only processes the data needed to perform its specific function, under its own security and privacy practices, and none of them use your data for their own advertising purposes. We don't share your personal data with any other third party.

5. Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Your cached grade card is refreshed on request (rate-limited to once every 30 minutes) and reflects the last time you refreshed it, not a live feed.

6. Deleting your account

Techiya.in does not currently have a self-service "delete my account" button in the app. To request deletion, email us at [email protected]. We'll delete your account, profile, and associated records (grade card cache) within 30 days of a verified request.

7. Children's privacy

Techiya.in is intended for IGNOU students, who are adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction).

8. Security

Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS). Access to your data is restricted by database-level access rules scoped to your own account — even our own application code can't read another student's data through the normal app paths. Admin access is limited to a small internal team for support/content-management purposes.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
